Gidget gives back
At Gidget Worldwide, Inc., we are excited about finding ways to contribute to our local communities. We believe we owe it to ourselves and our neighbors to leave the world a better place than we found it.
We created The Gidget Foundation to work with local environmental agencies and non-profit organizations to protect our beaches around the world. Areas of interest include:
- Beach re-nourishment and restoration
- Ocean and beach clean-ups
- Clean, safe water around the globe
- Natural habitat enhancement
Events, contest, and schools
The Gidget Foundation will also promote and license surf events and many other action sport competitions for female surfers and athletes. We’ll establish and promote Gidget surf instruction schools and teach kids of all demographics how to surf and enjoy other action sports. We want to give all kids access to an entirely new world and lifestyle, Gidget-style!
Gidget surf school
At every surf event we sponsor, Gidget offers a free surf school to kids on the beach. We partner with local surf schools and highly trained instructors come to the beach with surf boards and teach the kids at any age, how to surf. In between competition sets, the professionals will many times come over and give the kids hands on tips. It's a very exciting time.
YOU CHANGED MY DAUGHTERS LIFE
This is the comment we heard from two parents at a surf school we held in Huntington Beach in June 2009. Both their daughters were shy and rarely outgoing. However on this day, both girls agreed to try the surf school. Ironically both were named Rachel and both started riding the waves very quickly. When the kids came out of the water they were jumping for joy and ran to their even more excited parents. As we were teaching other kids to surf, the parents came up and told us that we had changed their daughter's lives. While we don't think that we deserve credit like that, their statements confirm our belief that if we just give young women and little girls an opportunity to explore new worlds, no telling what can happen. Be that sports, clothing design or activities that simply boost their self -confidence.
